A wedding story by Blažić Weddings Photography & Content Duo. An intimate celebration shaped by the Adriatic, the elegance of Italian dining, and the quiet beauty of Istria.

EXTRAORDINARY ADRIATIC WEDDING EXPERIENCE

Melani & Kevin’s wedding was a celebration of the latter — intimate, refined and deeply connected to its surroundings. Set in the beautiful coastal town of Poreč and the enchanting setting of Miramare by Fratelli Cerea, their day brought together the architectural heritage of Istria, Italian culinary tradition and the kind of atmosphere that invites you to slow down and be present.

For us, it was an opportunity to document a wedding through both honest, unscripted moments and carefully considered editorial portraits. A story of two people, a remarkable destination and an experience built around the things that matter most.

THE SPOT TO BE WEDD: POREČ & THE EUPHRASIAN BASILICA

Some destinations have a way of giving a wedding its own sense of place.
Poreč is one of them.

Located on the Istrian coast, this historic town brings together centuries-old stone architecture, Mediterranean light and the unmistakable presence of the Adriatic. Its old town streets, waterfront and cultural heritage create a setting that feels both timeless and effortlessly connected to the sea. For Melani & Kevin, the beauty of Poreč was not simply a backdrop. It was part of the experience.

Among the most extraordinary places in Poreč is the Euphrasian Basilica — a remarkable early Christian complex recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its ancient mosaics, stone details and distinctive architecture offer a sense of history that is difficult to replicate. The basilica brings a quiet grandeur to the day with its ancient mosaics and high pillars whish are perfect for framing.

A NEVERENDING SUNSET: ISLAND OF ST. NICHOLAS NEAR POREČ

Just a short ride from Poreč, on the island of Sveti Nikola, Miramare by Fratelli Cerea offers an atmosphere where the sea, the restored 19th-century castle and the surrounding natural beauty become part of the dining experience, perfect for intimate wedding celebration.

Our approach was to remain close enough to preserve the emotion, while giving the day the freedom to happen without interruption. That balance between documentary photography and editorial portraiture is at the heart of how we like to work as a wedding photographers. Along the coast, the Adriatic reflects the changing sky with a neverending sunset which we simply adore.

WHEN YOU HAVE A FINE DINING WEDDING EXPERIENCE

Food was an essential part of Melani & Kevin’s wedding story. The restaurant’s culinary identity is rooted in the traditions of the Cerea brothers from Bergamo, creators of the three-Michelin-starred Da Vittorio. Their approach brings together classic Italian flavours and refined culinary technique.

We must say that the most incredible course was “Paccheri Alla Vittorio” with 3 types of tomatoes, parmegiano reggiano ZOI Gennari and fresh basil. It was like a dish from our dreams.

The choice of wine pairing had a special meaning for this wedding. The fact that Melani is the daughter of the winemaker Tomaz, it made the wine pairing a beautiful and personal connection to her family’s heritage.

BEHIND THE CAMERA

For this wedding, we worked as a photography and content duo, combining still photography with the immediacy of modern wedding content. Our main camera was the Canon R6, paired with the Canon 28–70mm f/2 lens and Sigma 35mm f/1.4. The 28–70mm offered flexibility throughout the day, while the 35mm brought a more personal, immersive feeling. A focal length we love for storytelling, especially when the surroundings are as important as the people. Alongside the main camera setup, we also used the Canon G7X and iPhone 17 Pro Max for content creation. This combination allowed us to move between polished editorial photography and the spontaneous, immediate nature of wedding content.

CLOSING THOUGHTS

Our photography work here is built around two complementary approaches. Documentary photography is about preserving the emotions. The moments that happen naturally, the interactions that cannot be recreated, the small details that tell the story of the day. Editorial portraiture brings a little more intention. A thoughtful composition, beautiful light, a sense of place and an image that feels considered. For this wedding, these two approaches worked together naturally.
